We’re so thrilled to welcome them back to the Flash for a special Spring Break rock concert! Captain Dawg is made up of 6 family members and life long best friends who grew up together in West Chester, PA. They enjoy playing a mix of classic rock, indie, and folk music as well as originals! About the opener: City In Oblivion is an alt-rock emo band from Maryland. With influences from all sides, the band doesn’t really have any one style they prefer. Initially starting as a pop-punk band, they have since strayed far more into heavier portions of hard rock and metal. The Kennett Flash is proud to present Better Than Bacon Improv: Bacon Gives Back: Wings for Success! Better Than Bacon Improv returns to the FLASH for a benefit show to support Wings for Success, a local non-profit that empowers women and girls in need to achieve career and economic stability through education, apparel, and advocacy. Better Than Bacon Improv is a short form improv comedy troupe based in West Chester, PA. BTB does short skits and games based on audience suggestions, and often invites audience members on stage to help out. Improv comedy, as we say in our show openers, is a one-time only performance. We work without a script or a net. What you see in one show will never be seen again. Their repertoire includes a mix of adaptations of blues and soul standards as well as many original compositions. They have released four recordings that get regular play on area radio stations, including WXPN’s The Blues Show. They have also regularly appeared at many of the area’s finest clubs including Jamey’s House of Music, The Kennett Flash, The Sellersville Theater, and The World Cafe. Festival appearances have included The Philadelphia Folk Festival, The Chestnut Hill Garden and Fall for the Arts Festivals, The Turk’s Head Festival, The Paoli and Phoenixville Blues Festivals, and The River Blues Fest. Originally an 8-piece band, The Dukes are currently a dynamic five-person band led by original member and ace harmonica player and singer John Colgan-Davis. They feature excellent instrumental work, passionate singing, and great musical interplay. They work well with an audience and get everyone involved in dancing and having a great time.
