The Kennett Flash and If Not For Music is proud to present KITCHEN SINK Thursday, September 25, 2025, 20257pm show | 6pm doors$20 GA* | $10 Students*$5 BYOBall ages Kitchen Sink is an ensemble of like-minded musicians, improvisors, and composers dedicated to the creation and performance of original music. The band experiments with large groups of improvising musicians playing instruments from a wide variety of instrument families. The group was originally created in 2023 to premiere new compositions by the band leader Nathan Hansen. Since its inception, Kitchen Sink has collaborated with many local artists such as Francesco Protasi, Maeve Sullivan, and most recently, the Flash’s own award-winning songwriter Nile Gay. Impressions is the band’s first album and is set to release in September 2025. It features the music of Nathan Hansen, Dominick DeStefano, and most prominently, a saxophone concerto composed by Francesco Protasi. The ensemble incorporates earthy acoustic tones with electronic sounds to create a powerful mix of the past and the present. Jonathan’s compositions process his life as a black man, a father, a husband, and an artivist who believes in the power of music to illuminate challenging and complex societal issues. He believes music creates a space for bridges to be built, joy to be spread, and norms to be challenged.
